Text Editor
You can use the Text Editor to build pages for your site. While you can enter Text or HTML script, if you choose Text and later change to HTML, you must reformat the text. For example, you can create text that appears on the shopper’s Home page, About Us page, Contact Us, and Privacy Policy pages. Once your pages are built, you assign them using Site Text Assignment or Account News.
Note: To insert images, you must first upload the files such as GIF, JPG, JPEG, PNG, or BMP using the Image Management page. For details, see Image Management.
Some custom text you create should be fairly permanent. This includes your About Us, Contact us, Home, Login, and Privacy Policy pages, Order Errors, and possibly Scheduled Maintenance text for weekdays and/or weekends. You can also create other text pages that can be used and updated more frequently. In Account-specific News, you might decide to highlight seasonal sales, discounts, or information about their account or sales representative.
Note: You can also customize several messages that appear during checkout or credit card processing; however, HTML formatting is not used for checkout messages
Click Site Text and select Text Editor. The Text Editor page opens.
Click the down arrow in the Select Text box to select a page. You can:
Add a new page by selecting New Text in the Select Text box. Then click the Text Description box and enter a description for this page, About Us, for example.
Edit an existing text editor page by selecting it from the drop down Select Text list.
Click the Text Description box and enter a description for this page, About Us, for example. The description you specify appears in the drop-down menu when you assign this text to a specific page or message on the Site Text Assignment page.
Click the HTML Capable or Plain Text tab.
Note: The Plain Text tab lets you view how a message appears to shoppers who receive it as an email, if their email client does not allow HTML.
Click the body of the Text Editor box and specify the text for the page you are creating. The text you enter displays on the end user's site. If you are creating an HTML page, use the icons in the menu bars to format the text. For example, you can use various buttons to paste content copied from Microsoft Word and use boldface, italics, bullets, numbered lists, font size, email links, date and time stamps, images, and so on. To view Help, click
or press F1.
When finished:
Click Save to save the changes you made.
Click Copy to save a copy of the page. If you copy the text, you can use it for a new text block, specifying a different Text Description. This could be a useful tool when creating Account News for several customers who require slightly different information.
Click Delete to remove the page. At the Delete This Page prompt, click OK.
