Site Customizing

The Item Management feature lets you add an item to the custom catalog and provide as much or as little information about the item as needed. You can also upload a picture of the item. Click refresh_icon.gif to update the page.

Note: The item must exist in the back end business system. You can also set filters to limit the information. For example, you can set a filter to only include items beginning with MMM. To set a filter, click the down arrow to the right of the box and select a filter from the drop down box. For details, see Filtering Information.

  1. Click Site Customizing and select Item Management.

  2. The Manage Items pages opens. Click any heading to re-sort the catalogs. You can:

    Click edit_icon.gif next to the item to change. Click each box and enter the new information over the existing information. When you finish, click save_icon.gif.

    Click small_red_x.gif to remove an item. At the Delete This Item prompt, click OK.

    Click add_new_admin_user.gif Add New Item. The Manage Items page opens. To add the item, complete the following boxes:

  1. Click the Prefix box and enter a prefix for this item.

  2. Click the Item Nbr box and enter an item number.

  3. Click the Name box and enter the item name. You can enter up to 255 characters in this box.

  4. Click the Manufacturer box and enter the name of the manufacturer.

  5. Click the Description box and enter the item description. You can enter up to 2,000 characters in this box.

  6. Click the Keywords box and enter keywords to use when the shopper searches for this item. You can enter a maximum of 2000 alphanumeric characters in this box. When you enter the search terms, separate the text by using spaces. For example, you could enter paper white 20lb copier.

  7. Click the first Pack Content box and enter the quantity available in a unit of measure.

  8. Click the down arrow in the second Pack Content box and select a unit of measure.

  9. Click the down arrow in the third Pack Content box and select a unit of measure. For example, if there are three boxes of pencils in a carton, you would type 3 in the first box, select Box in the second box, and select Carton in the third.

  10. Click the item attribute check boxes to select attributes that can help shoppers when searching for items on the Advanced Search page.

  11. When finished, click add_new_admin_user.gif.

  1. From the Item Management page, you can also link pictures to item images. To do so:

  1. Click Load Images.

  2. Click add_new_admin_user.gif Add New Image/Image Mapping to add images to items.

  3. Click the down arrow in the Item (SKU) box and select the custom item.

  4. Click the Thumbnail Image box and enter the thumbnail location. If you cannot recall the location, click Browse to access the image on your hard drive.

  5. Click the Image box and enter the image location. If you cannot recall the location, click Browse to access the image on your hard drive.

  6. Click add_new_admin_user.gif to save the image to the item.

  7. Click Continue when finished linking images to custom items.
