Site Customizing

You can use the Custom Error Editor page to customize error messages. If you restrict a shopper to a current list of items or to specific catalogs, an error message displays when the shopper attempts to purchase an item that is not included in the restricted list. You can specify up to 250 alphanumeric characters, including spaces in this box.

It is important to remember that you could have two cases in which a shopper could see an Items Not Allowed message. The item could be on a restricted contract in the back end office system, for example. In this case, a standard message appears: The item number is not available for purchase. Please contact your dealer for more information. This message is set by the system and cannot be changed using Error Text.

In the second case, the shopper may be locked to an assigned catalog. The requested item could be allowed by the back end office system but not offered in the customer's selected catalog groups. This message can be changed using Error Text. You could specify the following text in this box: We're sorry but this item is unavailable; please contact Support. The text you specify appears as a popup message when the shopper attempts to order the item.

  1. Click Site Customizing and select Error Text. The Custom Error Editor page opens.

  2. Click the down arrow in the Select an Error box and choose an error.

  3. Click the body of the Page Editor box and enter the text for this error. Use the icons in the menu bars surrounding the window to format text.

  4. When finished, click Save.
